If home skin care products aren't effective, but you aren't ready for surgery, consider nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments, such as microneedling. Our team is happy to offer microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) at our office in Vandalia, OH. Microneedling uses several fine-gauge needles to safely and effectively create micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-injuries prompt the natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that enhance the health and appearance of your skin. To perform these treatments, our staff makes use of state-of-the-art SkinPen and LegendPro technologies, ensuring the best possible results for our patients. Often combined with other treatments, such as serums or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling can help reduce scars, pores, and stretch marks. Schedule a consultation at The Beauty Beneath to discover more about the results of microneedling and ways to personalize the treatment for your needs and goals.

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?

It's normal to experience sun damage and unwanted signs of aging as you get older. Microneedling is a safe and effective way to reduce a wide range of aesthetic concerns while improving the health and appearance of your skin. With this technology, you'll enjoy a smoother, softer complexion with improved texture and tone. Our team at The Beauty Beneath can address the following with microneedling:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Hyperpigmentation and dark spots
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin texture

In addition, you can expect to see improved blood circulation, a boost to your body's natural collagen production, and a glowing appearance.

Who Is A Good Candidate?

It's possible you could be a candidate for microneedling if you experience light or moderate complexion issues, like a decrease in elasticity or rough skin texture. Collagen induction therapy procedures may also improve the look of pores, stretch marks, and scars. You need to be willing to wait a while before seeing improvements from your microneedling treatment because the collagen and elastin will need time to have an effect on the complexion; however, you will have natural-looking results and gain healthier, stronger skin.

A microneedling treatment is completed in a private treatment room in around 30 – 60 minutes with numbing cream or local anesthesia if requested; however, patients generally feel little or no pain and discomfort. The treatment areas will be cleaned before the advanced SkinPen or LegendPro handpiece is evenly passed over. Once the microneedling is done, a topical treatment, such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or a serum with a vitamin infusion, may be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer selected for your skin type will be massaged in along with sunscreen since your skin will be sensitive after the treatment.

The staff at this facility has been nothing short of amazing. Every time I have come into this office I am welcomed, I have never had to wait longer than a few minutes to get called back into the room. The physicians listen to your concerns and make a plan to achieve goals based on expectations. I have been to other places for similar treatment’s and didn’t receive the outcome that Tracey was able to accomplish in one appointment. I will definitely be going back and have already booked follow up visits!

Firstly I don’t think I will be able to describe enough about how amazing my first facial experience was. Tiffany did Geneo Facial and it absolutely amazing! The room set up was so relaxing w music playing on the background. The heated bed was great. She was so knowledgeable and good at what she was doing. All the mask and massages was a whole different experience. I have never knew how much my face and skin needed it. It feels like my skin can finally breathe. My skin is absolutely glowing. Definitely coming back for more because it was so amazing and relaxing. Thank you so much, Tiffany <3

About Us
How much does microneedling cost?
In your initial consultation, Dr. Rick Gebhart will evaluate your skin and then create your custom treatment plan. Once this is done, he will go over your treatment costs and the procedure process. The Beauty Beneath may have specials on skin treatment packages, so be sure to ask about current deals in your appointment.
What exactly is microneedling?
Collagen induction therapy or microneedling is a nonsurgical procedure to improve the health of your skin. Collagen is a fibrous protein that helps your skin stay supple, smooth, and firm. Over time, your natural stores of collagen are reduced and your skin gets less elastic and thin. Microneedling casues small wounds in your skin. These micro-injuries prompt your skin to increase its collagen production and generate new skin cell growth. After a short recovery period, your complexion appears brighter, firmer, and healthier.
Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?
In the process of microneedling, channels are created in your skin that help other treatments to penetrate the deeper layers. This is why microneedling is often done before other skin treatment, like vitamin-rich serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Microneedling with PRP is often called the vampire facial. In your initial consultation, Dr. Rick Gebhart will discuss what treatments may be performed along with microneedling and which can help your skin's health.
How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?

Usually, patients need 3 – 6 sessions to achieve their best results. However, how many treatments you require will depend on the condition of your skin and your goals. Microneedling can be performed every 4 – 6 weeks as needed. During your initial consultation, Dr. Gebhart can estimate how many treatments you might need after assessing your skin and listening to your goals. When your skin goals are reached, Dr. Gebhart recommends getting maintenance treatments about twice a year.

Is microneedling safe for everyone?

On the whole, microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones. Skin injuries created by microneedling are so minor that there are rarely side effects afterward. Microneedling can be performed on most areas of skin, including the face, arms, neck, chest, and legs. Microneedling is not recommended if you have taken Accutane recently or have an open wound, active skin infection, or herpes simplex. Additionally, you may not be able to get microneedling if you are nursing, pregnant, or undergoing radiation treatments.

Is there any downtime after microneedling?

There is minimal downtime. Patients may experience redness and mild swelling for a day or two, but these effects usually subside quickly. Additionally, avoiding direct sunlight and using broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect the treated skin is advisable. While most individuals resume their regular activities immediately, it's important to follow post-procedure care guidelines provided by the practitioner to ensure optimal healing. It's worth noting that individual experiences may vary, and consulting with Dr. Gebhart is important as he can provide personalized advice based on your skin type and condition.
